• Compression molding
• Transfer molding
• Injection molding
• Extrusion
• Calendared Goods
Trostel’s capabilities include:
K-5 (143 Liter) and K-1 (3.5 Liter) Intermix® brand mixers. Intermixes® use intermeshing rotor technology now so popular with new, modern rubber mixing plants. The K-5 mixer is new (July 2008). The entire weigh-up, mixing and packaging operations are controlled using Mesabi® computer systems. This provides material traceability throughout the process. Material after mix, pass through two mills and are cooled and packaged on a VMI® batch-off.
Trostel has four indoor carbon black storage silos. The materials are unloaded from bulk trucks in an indoor truck bay. This insures that the black is dry and not at near freezing temperatures during the winter nor at three digit high temperatures during the summer. The entire facility is air conditioned. Bulk Super-Sak stations for dry powders and movable totes for bulk oil are also available.
Customers have the option of receiving their materials as strips, slabs or prep stocked. Trostel has three prep machines, two Zwik ZW® continuous preformers (one for polar, one for non-polar polymers) and one Barwell® preformer. All three systems utilize Infinity QS software for statistical weight control. Trostel routinely holds ± 5% prep weight with a Cpk greater than 1.60.
Our lab equipment in the Trostel PCD QC lab include:
• Alpha Technology® MDR and RPA rheological test machines
• Alpha Technology® T-2000 Tensometer Picture of the PCD Lab
• Zwick® digital durometer and densometer
• Dispergrator® dispersion analyzer
• Post cure capabilities
• A variety of standard rubber tests including, compression set, tension set
Customers also have available a wide variety of ASTM performance tests and analytical procedures in the Lake Geneva Wisconsin Laboratory. These include but are not limited to:
• FT-IR, Fourier Transform Infrared, the preferred method of infrared spectroscopy
• DSC (TG & peroxide state of cure) - Differential scanning calorimetry or DSC is a thermo analytical technique in which the difference in the amount of heat required to increase the temperature of a sample and reference are measured as a function of temperature.
ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world-a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services
